Description

The website needs to be designed to be pleasant, accessible and attractive.
We'll start from a graphical mockup based on the content structure, the logo style, the openvideo environment and uWiki needs (editing buttons?).

The design should also consider the work that has already be done by the community (see proposals and mockups in the mailing list).

lorenzo, the links to his drafts are unfound now, I have vague memory of his drafts to contemplate

if you post links sometime, put them persistant for access

All discussion should start at the mail list. I wanted to copy a summary to the tracker for every designer to have a reference.

There are thousands (millions) of elegant sites to copy designs that fullfil most demands of community lumiera. After we discuss something at the mail lists, summarize the design here; better link to a similar site and explain the part of the design to copy. Finally, draft a design graphic, vector, then post a link here. That method is for collabourators to hack together a design.

For the footer
Between the demands of Christian Thaeter and Odin's insight, a proposal like  http://www.mozilla.org/ was suggested. The design is a long row of columns. Each column is titled per a section of the project or category of link, for example DOWNLOADS, USER, DEVELOPER. Low the title is a list of specific pages or subsites that link a user quickly.

Here I attach a new  layout proposal for the Lumiera website. I hope to gather feedback on the mailing list, before eventually proceeding with the coding.
This base can be greatly improved by adding communicative icons and a header gallery, or more prominent graphic decoration.

Good mockup to start with. I quickly made a few small changes. I think you can better draw the visitor's focus to the content by changing the background-color of the content to a lighter grey. Next to that I made it more compact, along with some other minor changes. You can view it here:  http://www.wouterverwijlen.nl/lumitest/website_mockup_03.jpg
